1. Go through the recipe end to end:
Yes, you read it right, Read the recipe once or twice before you start anything.

2. Room Temperature:
This is to ensure that all the baking ingredients are at room temperature to get the best result.
As Baking is a science and precise measuring of ingredients are the key to achieve it. Ensure to use measuring cups and spoons or measuring scale to achieve the actual measurement same as mentioned in your recipe. To measure the dry ingredients, always level it off, until its mentioned to be heaped.
4. Prep Up:
Its always good to be ready with required equipment involved in baking along with the measured ingredients before you start. It also includes Preheating, preparing the cake tin with butter or parchment paper.
5. Oven Thermometer:
This is a complete game changer as every other oven is different and pre-heating works differently too. So, its good to invest in good oven thermometer to ensure we are baking at appropriate temperature to get perfect baking good all the time.
6. Oven Door should be closed:
Oven door should remain closed until few mins prior to final time as it allow to intact the temperature inside. If in doubt to check whether cake is done or not, do insert the toothpick and close the door immediately.
7. Best Quality Ingredients:
This makes a remarkable difference in taste as the quality ingredients greatly enhance the final product.
8. Resting or Cooling after Bake:
Always cool down your products before storing or wrapping over cooking rack. Evaporation and condensation make the difference even after the product is out of oven. Apart from that, for Cakes It allows to have flat tops for cakes which are further make it easy to work on layering and for cookies, resting time ends up-to perfect chewy consistency.
9. Baking Tools & Tins:
Using the right tools and correct size of tins make a difference while following any recipe as the baking time different with the size.
Its difficult to arrive at exact serving. However the standard guidelines are:
8 inch square cake = 6-8 servings,
8 inch round layer cake = 12-16 servings,
9 X 13 inch sheet cake = 12-16 servings
